Description

Legal document. Written and signed by Mevasser b. Avraham ha-Kohen. Signed by at least four others including Avraham b. Moshe ha-Melammed, Avraham b. Natan, and Saʿadya b. [...]. No date is preserved. It states that the testimony took place in the court of the Nagid. A man named Khaṣīb b. Abū Naṣr known as [...] had claimed goods confided to Moshe Sh{ī}rajī, who had died. The tax farmers of the market protested, as Khaṣīb owed to them something. Khaṣīb agreed to pay 2 dinars cash and 5 5/6 dinars in 4 monthly installments. His payment orders were transferred to al-ḥakīm (Goitein suggests this is Yequtiʾel b. Moshe, the representative of the merchants), who would pay them when he paid the orphans. Now the goods should be delivered to Khaṣīb. (Information from Goitein's index card.)
