Description
Legal document in which a paternal cousin (al-shaykh al-mukram al-Kohen Pinḥas) of a man’s wife (bint al-Muṣinn) renounces his inheritance rights on one-fourth of a house belonging to her against ten dinars promised to him by her husband (Abu Naṣr al-ʿAṭṭār known as Ibn Khalaf Ḥawājib) in case she precedes him in death. Dated: Sunday, 5 Ṭevet 1554 = 30 November 1242 CE. Unsigned, but mentions Yosef as a witness. (Information from Goitein's index cards and Mediterranean Society, 4:279) EMS
