Description

Legal document in Arabic script. Fragment (upper left piece). Dating: no earlier than ~14th century, and potentially much later, based on the formulae used. After the basmala, the extant text begins: العبد الفقير الى الله تعالى الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة كرط[. . . . . .] ابي المكارم عبد الكريم المحولي(؟) الشافعي . . . . Further down, mentions the terms muʿāmala, a sum of money (dīnārayn?), and possibly al-bayʿ(?) al-sharʿī (l. 8). On recto there is a damaged faṣl. The first couple words of several lines are preserved, including probably the same name of the judge (or party?) from recto المحولي(؟) ال[شافعي].
