Friedman reads "Metropolis" as a general term for a city, rather a specific place: "instead of medina for 'city,' the latter is designated by the unique term 'Metropolis.' a designation I have not encountered in any other Geniza documents" (Jewish Marriage in Palestine, 81).

There is also a remnant of an Arabic text on recto mentioning "Isrāʾīl ʿalayhi al-salām," probably unrelated. This is probably the end of T-S Ar.38.128 + T-S Ar.42.195 (PGPID 39060) (indirect join).
