    In Hebrew. The first letter mentions the Mourners of Zion. The writer seems to have received a rebuke regarding an error in something he copied, since he writes, "Perhaps the copyists confused the text in their haste to spread the good news from one person to another. […] The second letter is from the community of Cisneros (ציץ נירוש) to Ḥasdai Crescas (d. 1410), thanking him for his letter and conveying the good tidings of a mercifulmessenger of God who was sent to redeem the Jews from the oppressive edicts of the Christians. This letter may be connected to the messianic claimant Moses b. Isaac Botarel of Cisneros, who rose to prominence following the anti-Jewish edicts of 1391 and who counted Crescas among his followers.

Mentioned are levies imposed for the purchase of new mats (see Gil, Palestine, 2: 743, doc. #400) and oil for the synagogue (notice mention of prayers), an estimate of income which the writer cannot calculate, a weekly revenue of eight dinar, and the market where animals are slaughtered. […] David, 'the joy of the yeshiva', might refer to Avraham b. David b. Sighmar mentioned with this title in ENA2804.11 (Goitein, Med.Soc.3:183). The letter also mentions the Nasi and ends with profuse expressions of submission.

    The new governor promises to protect the community and carries a recommendation letter from Mevorakh. The tax burden also seems to have been somewhat lifted. This is a monumental letter, meant to be hung in the synagogue for public view. The letter was written after 1094, as can be seen from Mevorakh's titles. (Information from Frenkel. Goitein adds that the letter complains that a certain 'Rum' had rented storehouses belonging to one merchant, but had left for 'their' country without having paid for them.

    Yaʿaqov ha-Kohen (apparently a merchant trading in the East). Dated: Monday, 8 Adar I 1421 Seleucid, which is 1110 CE. The hand is probably that of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe, who also sends his regards. The letter opens with a strong rebuke for failing to write and goes on to mention the arrival of merchandise/gifts, and greetings to and from various people.
