رسالة p. Heid. Hebr. 1الوصف
Recto: Letter in Judaeo-Arabic from Barakāt b. Abū l-Faraj al-Dayyān to al-Raṣuy, asking for a loan of thirty dirhams using a turban as collateral. Goitein initially read the name as al-Zayyāt rather than al-Dayyān (the nun does look unusually tav-like) and tentatively identified the addressee as the parnas ʿUlla ha-Levi ca. 1100 CE, however the sender is almost certainly Shelomo b. Eliyyahu from the early 13th century. He is asking for a loan of thirty dirhams using a turban as collateral. See separate record (PGPID 37727) for verso. NB: this document is also known as p. Heid. Hebr. 898 and as P.Heid.Arab. III 42, and verso was edited by Werner Diem (https://www.apd.gwi.uni-muenchen.de/apd/show2.jsp?papname=Diem_Heid_III_42).
