- “And what is his profession?” He said: “He is a carpenter man.” “And you—
- what is your name?” He said: “Y[esh]u.” “[And] what is your profession?”
- He said: “I am a hunter.” They said to him: “These
- writings of the magicians that were found in your hand—
- are they new or old?” He said to them:
- “They are old, (belonging to) Balaam son of Peor, and I found them

- and you teach an evil teaching to all creatures?
- And these books that are in your hand—if you tell
- us the truth, whose (books) they are; and if not, we will kill

- He said to them: “These writings are not old
- and they are not new, and they are not by Balaam.”
