Letter fragment in Judaeo-Arabic. Yemeni hand. Partially vocalized. Unusual layout, with a very large text block in the left margin at a right angle to the preceding text. Dating: uncertain, maybe 12th or 13th century. The sender is a woman based on the feminine "muttakila" (ומא אעלמתוני באלקציה אלדי כרגת אני מתכלה עליהא) and "ghāʾiba." She tells the addressees (her children?) several times that their father is in great financial distress. She has been unable to sell a Torah without a binding (tajlīd) in Fustat. The addressees are to go to Malīj and try their hardest to sell it there. Mentions Nafīs and Abū Naf[..] and rebukes the addressees for their absence and failing to write. AA/ASE/OZ
