الوصف

Verso: Top part of a letter in Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic. Probably a letter of condolence based on the opening verses. In the margin the sender asks the addressee to obtain something from Sayf al-M[ulk] in order to expedite some kind of task. Likely dated: [14]42 Seleucid = 1130/31 CE. Signed by Zakkay b. Moshe (the judge in al-Maḥalla, active 1127–50). ASE It looks like another page was glued to the top of the letter in order for recto to be reused for a theological treatise in Judaeo-Arabic. In the margins around the letter on verso there are also two text blocks in Arabic script and Greek/Coptic numerals, each referencing a date (but not giving the year), and one referring to a bathhouse (ḥammām al-[...]) and one referring to a shop (ḥanūt).
