- If Sirius rises on day 25 of Abīb
- and the moon is lodged in Cancer, then it indicates
- what will be in it (the year): gentle winds that will come
- from the north. But this good will not last.
- The Nile will rise high. There will appear among people evil
- bile and an evil, malignant illness. An eclipse will be seen,
- and a group of leaders and peers (?) will die.
- There will be
fightingdiscord among people, especially among - the notables. Wheat will be scarce and in demand. There will be
- fighting in Egypt and Syria. There will be fear for the king
- on account of illness and other causes of destruction.
- If it rains water for 3 days, there will be no benefit,
- and it will be a sign of the king's demise and the cessation of benefaction.
- Many cattle will perish. People will be displaced from
- the district of Sudan. The moon will be eclipsed in
- the district of the east and toward the south until nothing
- of it is seen. Corruption will be abundant, and there will be fear

- People will experience illnesses: inflammation, coughing,
- smallpox and ophthalmia. Fish and pressed goods (juices and oils) will be abundant
- and will be healthy, but olives will be scarce. Some
- fruits will be blighted. Rain will be abundant,
- as will snakes. Smallpox will spread among the old
- and the young. Figs and grapes will be abundant, and the date palms
- will be healthy. There will be profit in flax. An affliction will fall on Alexandria
- and the Maghrib, and wild beasts and pigs will die.
- Many ships will sink in the Mediterranean.
- At the end of the year there will be abundance, but
- clover and legumes will be blighted. God knows best
- what is hidden. If the new year
- falls in Leo, if Sirius rises on
- day 25 of Abīb, and [the moon] is lodged in Leo,
- then it indicates what will be in it: blowing of wind
