  1. I am writing this letter- -may God prolong the life of my lord, the 

  2. Sheikh and. make permanent his honoured position, his- success and happiness 

  3. being in good health, may God unite us 

  4. in the best of circumstances. What I have tell you 

  5. about the news of the war. is that an Andalusian 

  6. ship set sail from al-Mahdiyya, the enemy 

  7. fought it, but the night separated them and it 

  8. returned safely to Sfax. Then, when 

  9. a second ship set sail, the enemy rammed it 

  10. and took everything which was in it, merchandise and 

  11. people, and left the ship turned upside down. 

  12. Eleven men returned... 

  13. About this . . . 

  14. The Maghribis (were very angry), that the enemy was able to carry away 

  15. even their cargo... 

  16. This is what I have to announce you. Please let me know 

  17. the price of khazāsh (a kind of silk).
