الوصف

Second note from a teacher who, in the letter on recto, had complained about an unruly pupil (see PGPID 2086). A family member has replied on verso, encouraging the teacher to continue writing, as perhaps the notes will scare the boy into behaving well; the teacher has complied with the request and written a second note. Recto

My lord, God, the exalted, knows that I spare no effort with regard to the boy. I admonish him all the time and he swears me solemn oaths so that I am inclined to believe that he will not commit anything wrong again.

Do not cease sending me notes. The more notes are exchanged, the more easily will he be afraid. To my mind he has greatly changed.

Your servant has carried out the instructions given to our lord by your mother out of love [and mercy] for the boy, and …

(One line left blank.)

I always talk to him and he swears that he will not relapse. So please do not cease sending me messages so that his fear will endure. And your welfare may increase.
