Letter from Eliyyahu the Judge, in Fustat, to his son Shelomo b. Eliyyahu, in Qalyūb. In Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: early 13th century. To be delivered to Abū l-Munā al-ʿAṭṭār, who will forward it to the addressee. The letter opens with blessings for either Hannuka or Purim. Eliyyahu provides a report about Hilāl and a compound (dār) and two small houses (duwayra) belonging to the heqdesh. If Hilāl is in Qalyūb, Shelomo should detain him there so that Eliyyahu can come out for Shabbat and take care of this affair. This is by the order of 'the Rayyis' (probably Avraham Maimonides).
