Unnamed Enslaved Person 2 (in Berbera)

Description / Bio

Enslaved child, the son of Abū Saʿīd b. Maḥfūz, known as Ibn Jamāhīr, and Unnamed Enslaved Person 1. The child and his mother are mentioned in a court case from ʿAydhāb involving the enslaved man Ṣāfī, an agent of the Jewish court in Fustat, and Ibn Jamāhīr. The court case centers on Ṣāfī's accusations that Ibn Jamāhīr had a child with the unnamed enslaved woman in question and then abandoned her and their son in Berbera, a port city in the Gulf of Aden.
