Maḍmūn b. David
Description / Bio
Maḍmūn b. David is a descendant of the first Maḍmūn — possibly his great-grandson through his eldest son Ḥalfon b. Maḍmūn. Maḍmūn b. David is addressed as Nagīd (IB II, 69), and as a leader of the Jewish community in two documents. At some point, he was also representative of the merchants in Aden. In IB II, 67, he describes the Jewish community returning to the religion after what might have been a period of temporary apostasy under the previous ruler of Yemen.
