Description / Bio

A servant of the Rayyis, Maṣlīaḥ ha-Kohen. There exist references to a Mukhtār who was formerly enslaved by (and acted as agent for) Maṣlīaḥ ha-Kohen's uncle Evyatar, an earlier Palestinian Gaon (see Mann, Jews, 1:196, line 9). This Barakāt may be his son (Goitein & Friedman, India Book, p 384, n 39).
