Unnamed Manumitted Person 68

Description / Bio

Manumitted man mentioned in a court register entry from the mid-twelfth century CE regarding marital conditions and dowry items for his nuptials. One of the conditions stipulates that he and his wife will possibly live in the house of his former enslaver: al-shaykh Abū Saʿīd Ḥalfon b. Shemarya, who is perhaps identical to Abū Saʿīd Ibn Jamāhir Ḥalfon b. Shemarya ha-Levi. Due to the level of damage in the relevant lines, these connections are tentative.
