Recto: Legal document in Arabic script. Ishāq b. Saʿīd al-Yahūdī al-ʿAṭṭār rents a house from 1 Muḥarram for four dinars, “pays in advance.” Verso: Address of a letter in Arabic script. From Wahb b. Barakāt to the well-known parnas ʿAllūn b. Yaʿīsh in Fustat. Unclear if this is related in any way to recto. (Information from Goitein’s index card and Khan.)

- هذا ما استاجر اسحق بن سعيد اليهودي العـ[ ]
- جميع الدار التي هي لها وملكها وبيدها .[ ]
- وحدها من القبلة دار ابو الفرج الخراز ا [ ]
- ومن الشام الطريق ومن الشرق الطريـ[ـق ]
- الشهور والايام اولها مستهل .[ واخرها منسلخ ذى]
- الحجة منها باربعة دنانير ذهبا عينا [ ]
- ولا احتجاج على سائر الوجوه كلها [ ]
- جميع ما وقعت عليه هذه الاجارة [ واشهد ]
- على نفسه في العشر الاخر من [ ]

This is what Isḥāq ibn Saʿīd the Jew leased [ ]

all the house that belongs to her, in her ownership and possession [ ]

its boundary to the south is the house of Abū al-Faraj, the sewer of skins, [ ]

in the north the road and in the east the road [ ]

months and days, the beginning of which is the first day of [ and the end of which is the last day of Dhū]

al-Ḥijja of it, for four dīnārs, gold, in minted coin [ ]
-
nor protest in any other way whatsoever [ ]

everything that this lease entailed [ he called witnesses]
