Fine, calligraphic ketubba. Location: Fustat. Dated: Tuesday, 20 Shevaṭ 1361 Seleucid = 16 January 1050 CE. Bride: Sitt al-Dār bt. Abū l-Ṭayyib Ḥananya ha-Levi ha-Parnas. Groom: Avraham b. Yiṣḥaq the scholar. Witnessed by Natan b. Yeshuʿa ha-Levi, Menashshe b. David, Abū Zikrī Yehuda b. Saʿadya the physician, Natan b. Sason, Avraham b. [Maṣ]liaḥ, Nahray b. Nissim, Manṣūr b. Yaʾir, Khalaf b. Saʿadya, Yiṣḥaq b. David, Ḥayyim b. Moshe, and Aharon b. Ṭoviyya the Third. The trousseau and marriage gift reveal this was an extremely wealthy couple. The Tunisian banker and judge Avraham b. Yiṣḥaq the scholar (ha-Talmid) is known from many other Genizah documents, and was involved with community politics during the administration of the Nasi David b. Daniel. (Information from CUDL.)
