תיאור

Letter from Abū Zikrī Yaḥyā b. Isḥāq and Ḥayyim b. Sulaymān al-Raḥbī, in Alexandria, to Abū Sulaymān Dāʾūd/David b. Ḥayyim al-Ṣayrafī, presumably in Fustat. (Two of these names are nowhere written out in full and are deduced from both the letter on recto and the address on verso.) In Judaeo-Arabic. The senders report that they arrived safely and found 'a good house' to stay in and have been treated with lavish hospitality and wonderful food. The governor (ʿāmil) "does nothing without his advice," it seems referring to Abū Zikrī Yaḥyā. Saʿīd is doing well. Ḥayyim takes over the letter in l. 15 and asks the addressee to go to Ibn Ṭalyūn and tell him that Ibn al-Raḥbī greets him and asks him to go retrieve the pillow that has [...] in it "on account of the mice." He then gives instructions about giving and receiving payments to various people (with money he had hidden in the pillow?).
