תיאור

Fragment containing what purports to be an autograph signature of Moshe Maimonides (משה ביר מימון זצל). Next to this: מסכת סוכה / אבות / משנה / חיבור / רבינו / הקדוש / זצל. Partly overlapping with the phrase מסכת סוכה — it's unclear which text was written first — there appear the first two verses of Genesis in a large square scribal hand and the word עמנואל underneath in the same hand. Identified by Alan Elbaum in Dec. 2025. Based on Mordechai Akiva Friedman and Amir Ashur's assessment, this is unlikely to be the signature of Maimonides himself. Rather, it seems that another scribe -- likely Shelomo b. Shemuʾel b. Saʿadya ha-Levi and/or his brother Yosef -- was attempting to copy Maimonides' signature. Shelomo is known to have copied the signature of another famous scribe in T-S K6.142 (PGPID 41381).
