תיאור

Marriage contract, fragment. Location: Minyat Zifta. Dating: ca. 1120 CE. Goitein identifies the handwriting as that of Avraham b. Shabbetay (cf. T-S 13J13.20 (PGPID 3218)). The groom's name is missing. Bride: Sutayt bt. Hillel b. Faraḥ ha-Levi. Opening with an excerpt from Psalm 92. The marriage gift was 40 dinars and the dowry another 50. (Information in part from Goitein, Med. Soc. III, App. B, sec. 6; according to Reif, this document is also mentioned in Ashtor, Histoire des Prix, p.173.)
