Verso: Informal note to al-Nezer (Natan b. Shemuel), active 1128–1164 CE, in which the writer bemoans his state (e.g. mā baqiya lī khāṭir), and writes, "Tomorrow they will ask me to speak. Perhaps you can write down for me on the other side of this ruqʿa an abridgment of the story of Naomi. The case of this woman is similar to hers (lit. 'entered upon by her', maslūka minhā)." Recto: The response in the hand of Natan b. Shemuel, in which he promises to comply, but not until later in the night, due to some responsibility (nawba) or calamity (nūba), possibly referring to the same calamity afflicting the sender, i.e., he has taken it to heart.
