Legal record (#39). Engagement contract, outline. Extremely abbreviated. "The groom: Elʿazar b. Shemarya. The girl (bride): Khawātī. Early marriage payment: 3(?) dinars. Delayed marriage payment: 5 dinars." The name "Khawātī" is unusual and literally means "my sisters." A woman by the name of Sitt al-Khawāt is known from another document.
