Description

"Specification of the Distribution of Wheat," upper section of partly effaced list; about forty names preserved, among them that of Maimonides' sister-in-law, the widow of David b. Maymūn who perished in the Indian Sea. She received "a quarter and an eighth" of a wayba, obviously a quarter for herself and an eighth for her infant daughter (see B 26). At least five persons are characterized as shāmī (from Palestine, or from Damascus); otherwise no persons from outside Egypt. (Information from Goitein, Med Soc II, App. B, #35.)
