Description

Bill of divorce (geṭ). Location: Fusṭāṭ. Dated: Thursday, 12 Sivan 1532 Seleucid = 3 June 1221 CE. This bill of divorce is one of forty under the T-S 10J2 shelfmark. Husband: the goldsmith (al-dhahabī) Mūsā b. Makārim from Cairo. Wife: Sitt al-Waqār bt. Abū l-Barakāt from Fusṭāṭ. There are two witnesses including Yeḥiʾel b. Elyaqim, but the other has not survived. The verso contains the receipt of the bill of divorce by the wife, signed by Yeḥiʾel b. Elyaqim and Eliyyahu b. Zekharya.
