Description

Recto: Account of the qodesh. Dating: no earlier 1155 CE based on the original use on verso (PGPID 11413). Goitein dated it to 1181–1200 but dodides not explain his reasoning; Gil dated it to ca. 1215 CE based on identifying the scribe with that of Bodl. MS heb. c 50/14 (PGPID 555). However an earlier dating should be considered - it mentions Abū l-Ḥasan al-Hod, and someone of the same kunya and yeshiva title was active in the mid-12th century. Also mentions Muʿallā b. Raḥmūn; Bū l-Faḍāʾil al-Kohen; Bū Manṣur al-Ṣāʾigh. The document records sums deposited by several collectors of the qodesh with its central administration. Details about 1,010 dirhams and other sums received from rents and delivered by the writer to various communal officials. The writer is apparently one of the judges of the court in Fustat.
