Deed of sale for a slave. Fragment (upper left corner). Probably in the hand of Mevorakh b. Natan. Location: Fustat. Dated: 1463 Seleucid = 1151/52 CE. Seller: the parnas Abū ʿAlī Yefet b. Shemarya. Buyer: Abū Isḥāq Avraham b. ʿAmram. Slave: a woman named Rahj. This name could be translated as "dust" or "discord" (Lane, Lexicon, 1109). Dozy also defines rahj as "zarnīkh" (arsenic). Price: 20.5 dinars.
