Description

Accounts in the hand of ʿArūs b. Yūsuf. Three other pages of ʿArūs's accounts appear in the neighboring shelfmarks. Recto contains an unusually rich narrative section: "Abū Saʿīd Makhlūf b. Mūsā asked me regarding sal ammoniac belonging to him [...] the elder Abū l-Khayr Ibn al-ʿUṣfūra [...] the elder Abū l-Riḍā who arrived delivered it to merchants (nās) and did not mention him (i.e., Makhlūf). He is owed a basket(?) of sal ammoniac which will be collected either by Ibn al-Shammās or Abū l-Riḍā, who will pay half of the proceeds to Hilāl, and what remains [...] for the rental fee. He also asked if Abū l-Riḍā travels to al-Andalus, so that he can provide his goods to him." Recto states that Abū l-Mufaḍḍal (a person with this kunya appears in many of ʿArūs's accounts) sent two burniyyas; also mentions someone's brother in law; a thawb; Socotran aloe; and a qārūra of silver.
