Legal record (#125) in a court register/pinqas from a Karaite beit din in Cairo (on f. 41r of Yevr.-Arab. I 328). Dated: 14 Av 5329 AM (1569 CE). The scribal hand of this entry is not that of Avraham b. Yeshaʿyyahu Tūrīzī, who likely penned most of the court register. Marital dispute case in which Ṣedaqa b. ʿAbd al-Daʾīm testifies that "for five year's from [today's] date he has not resided with his wife Farj bt. Avraham al-Levi." The phrasing of the court record then becomes somewhat unclear: "...he has not resided with his wife Farj bt. Avraham al-Levi at his siblings' not masculine (pl.) nor feminine (pl.)" (ענד אכואתה לא דכורה ולא אלאנאת). These two adjectives are in the plural form and were probably included by the scribe to depict "siblings" as a group comprised of both brothers and sisters (as opposed to solely male or female siblings). It seems extraordinary that Ṣedaqa's estranged wife would be living with his siblings, but later on in the record he states that he will no longer accuse his wife with the words: "you separated me and my family" (lit. "you split/separated between me and my family"). The dispute ends with the stipulation: "and he (Ṣedaqa) has acquired a house and his desire is for his mother to reside with him, may there be peace."
