Description

Bifolio containing Hebrew literary text in at least two different hands. The fourth page is in Arabic and contains the text of a letter or epistle (some sort of query?). The addressee is greeted with various praises and blessings (...سيدنا الاجل ادام الله بقاه والمستجاب بانعامه كبت الله عداه والمست..ن بعاداته الجميلة وسببه ال . . . .الذي قد . . . ). The substance of the request is difficult to read and might mention cotton (والقطن) but this seems oddly specific. The continuation resumes the praises for the addressee including for his "rays (of light)" (shiʿāʿ) shining upon Israel (the word Yisraʾel is written in Hebrew script) as opposed to the "shade" or darkness (hādhā l-ẓill).
