Description

Note related to a legal case written and signed by Shelomo b. Eliyyahu. "O my lord, Abū l-Makārim b. Sitt Ziyāda b. al-Shaykh al-Talmid Abū l-Riḍā sued me (akhṣamanī) regarding my maternal aunt." Underneath, in Arabic script, the name Makārim b. Nuʿmān Kohen (كوهان) Qazzāz appears; this is presumably the same person as Abū l-Makārim the son of Sitt Ziyāda. This Abū l-Makārim b. Sitt Ziyāda is known from at least one other document, where he is also identified by the name of his mother rather than father. It is strange that Sitt Ziyāda's name is followed here by "ibn" rather than "bint."
