Description

Fragment of a mercantile letter in Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: 12th century? Mentions items including a bracelet (siwār) and something of gold. Refers to meeting with "the young men" (al-ṣibyān); something accompanying the Cretan(?) Byzantines (al-rūm al-kharāʾiṭa); arriving in Cairo; and a hope to take something the following week. Reused on verso for Hebrew piyyuṭ.
