Description

Title page (verso) and opening lines of an instructional manual in accounting: كتاب اللباب في الوفق والعدد والحساب. The work's author is محمد بن الحسن ابن إبراهيم العطار. According to Bodleian Library metadata, only one full copy of the manuscript is known to exist (MS. Marsh 663, ff. 308-337) as well as one copy of an abbreviated version of the manual (MS. Aya Sofya 4857, ff. 278v- 286v). The introduction of the copy in the Bodleian notes that the manual was composed in the early thirteenth century during the reign of the Artuqid ruler Nāṣir al-Dīn Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad ibn Qara Arslān (r. 1201-1222 CE).
