Description

Verso: Accounts in an early modern hand. 16th-century or later based on the paleography. The coinage referenced is fiḍḍa (likely Ottoman-era medin) and perhaps "kalb" as a reference to some international currency– perhaps Dutch lion thalers, which were also referred to as "dog" coins in Judaeo-Arabic because the figurative portrayals of lions resembled dogs. Recto: lists of Greek numbers in Hebrew script under the heading "these are the numbers of the Greek language" (האדה אלעדד בלשאן אלגרייגו). MCD.
