Description
Letter of appeal for charity, written in a mixture of Hebrew, Arabic, and Judaeo-Arabic. The addressee is Abū ʿImrān Moshe b. Shela. The sender explains that he is new to 'this land' (Egypt?). He says that he and the addressee's late father (wālidak) fled first from al-Ramla and then from ʿAkkā, apparently from the Ghuzz Turks who pillaged their possessions (ll. 20–21). Most of the rest of the letter consists of biblical citations and eloquent blessings. ASE
