Description

Verso (original use): Letter fragment in Arabic script. Dating: Probably Mamluk-era. Written in very eloquent style and partially in rhymed prose (sajʿ). Includes "a glimmer of a complaint" (لمعة من الشكوا) about something and many appeals to the bond (ṣafad) between sender and addressee and perhaps expressions of distress, e.g., "there is no more marrow in the bone and no more spark of life in the viscera" (ولم يبقى في العظم مخ ولا في الحشاية رمق).
