State document T-S AS 176.27Description
Fragment with four different text blocks in Arabic, apparently drafts of documents in a chancery hand. Both sides are also reused for Hebrew biblical text written in very large script. 1) The most substantial note is at the top of verso and consists of three lines, beginning with a basmala and ending with an inshallāh and a ḥasbala. The content has yet to be deciphered. 2) Underneath, there are a couple lines from the beginning of a letter of excuse "the reason I could not fulfill your errand/service is that...." 3) A few words in Arabic at the very bottom of the page. 4) On recto there are prayers for the caliph al-Mustanṣir (r. 1036–94).
