Description

Either a letter or a legal testimony. The name Meshullam b. Elʿazar ha-Kohen appears on verso (probably the same as in CUL Or.1080 J69, T-S 20.78, and T-S 8J21.3). The document describes a situation which apparently led to a merchant being unable to pay his debts. Includes the line, "the sailors plundered the light luggage" (wa-nahabū al-baḥḥāra al-khaff). The hand resembles that of Khalaf b. Yiṣḥaq, but it seems wider and the tops of the lameds are curved.
