Description

Verso: Letter fragment in Arabic script. Mentions 24 silver pieces; Menaḥem al-Yahūdī known as Rūfīl (? روفيل, possibly a diminutive of the name Refaʾel); an official from the dīwān al-mawārīth (cf. ENA 4194.3 (PGPID 5411)) who opened a man's warehouse and confiscated all of the contents (فتح مخزنه واخذ جميع ما فيه); legalistic phrases referring to somebody in sound health (صحة الجسـ]ـم والبدن لا علة ولا سقم ولا حال يلزم فيه ال . . ). The margin is difficult to understand; appears to read . . . في ذلك ما تجوزه عليه وهو ذمي والحق اولا ما اتبع وانت تعلم ما عملته فيما الكتاب(؟) الذي . . . (a prior PGP description took this to be a legal document with a description of the responsibility of the testator, however this is not clear).
