Description

State-issued receipt, in Arabic script. Location: Alexandria. Dated: 18 Ṣ[afar] 1236 AH (1820 CE), the ligature before ص in the date is شهر. Barakāt b. Ishāq the Jew has paid his dues of 252 Kuruş Rūmī to the loom of textile weavers (anwāl al-muṣliḥīn al-qummāshīn) in Alexandria and is signed by the overseer (nāẓir) of the bureau. Needs examination.
