Description

Petition, possibly, or a report. In Arabic script. The ends of 4 lines are preserved. The document concerns the execution of an official decree (manshūr karīm) and an inquiry involving local officials. The writer reports that a noble decree (manshūr karīm) reached him through two intermediaries, ordering him to summon the raʾīs al-muwān/mawān(?). The damaged passage appears to concern individuals who had fled and possibly the exercise of authority over them. The writer further states that the wālī and the ḍāmin had gone out to the raqqāṣīn, here apparently referring to the police. He then mentions clarifying the circumstances (استيضاح الحال) regarding what had previously been reported about them (فيما أنهى عنهم), with the final words of the passage damaged or uncertain.
