Description

Order of payment issued for the ṣarrāf Mūsā Naʿīm (Moshe ben Naʿim) involving the Dīwān Anwāl al-Ḥarīr in Alexandria and a certain al-Ḥajj Muḥammad Kh..iyya. The official that signs and seals the document is the nāẓir of the Dīwān, al-Ḥajj ʿAmr Agha. Dated: 28 Dhū l-Ḥijja 1238 = 5 September 1823 CE. There is a note in Hebrew script on verso "מח׳ חירייה", probably referring to al-Ḥajj Muḥammad Kh..iyya, but using ח instead of כ as the initial letter of his surname. MCD.
