Description
Letter in Arabic script. Addressed to [...] al-Ḥakīm, the physician of the amīr Jamāl al-Dīn Aḥmad. Dating: Likely ca. 13th century. The writer seems to be rebuking the addressee: "because of your habit of listening to 'bāṭil' (bad counsel), there is not a single person who doesn't laugh at us." He swears twice by the Torah: "wa-ḥaqq al-Tawrā." There are few commodities with prices in dirhams, including rice, listed on both recto and verso. There are a few phrases in Hebrew on verso.
