List of donations to the fund for clothing for the poor for the year 550[9] AM = 1747/8 CE. The list of contributors' names is extensive, the first entry is for Avraham Serrano– who was likely one the wealthiest merchants in Cairo during the mid-eighteenth century. The French Consul in Cairo estimated Serrano's net worth as 12.5 million medin in 1747 CE (Raymond, Artisans et commerçants, Vol. II, 462). Serrano may have been the only person in this communal list to have contributed a sum in gold coinage given that his entry stands alone in mentioning Ottoman maḥbūb and ginzīrlī: 3 + 1 = 440 medin, which makes sense as an exchange rate because the nominal value of the maḥbūb was commonly worth 110 medin in this time period.
