Description

Fragment of a late legal document involving Shelomo b. Elʿazar Skanda (?) and Yehuda Marājī (?). The third line features a phrase with at least one word in Turkish: בגדי צמר שאלפקי ודימיטו ובורונג׳וק (boruncuk), described as the compensation (תמורתו) that Yehuda received from Shelomo. Given that בגדי צמר is "wool clothing" in Hebrew, the other terms are probably specific types of fabric. The Turkish word could thus be a misspelling of bürümcük: a crimped type of Turkish fabric made from cotton, silk, or linen. Requires further examination. MCD.
