Description

Letter from a man to his 'brother'. In Judaeo-Arabic, rudimentary script and spelling. He informs him that he has "fallen" into the ḍamān (tax concession) of Minyat Badr (near Damsīs, present-day Mit Badr Ḥalāwa) with Abū Saʿd and that he cannot leave, otherwise he would go up (presumably to Fustat/Cairo) in person. He has sent some money for purchases and sends regards to various people. ASE.

  4. אללה ביננא עלא אסר חאל במנה וכרמה 

  5. אנה ואלי דאלך ואלקדר עליה אן שא אללה

  6. ואלדי אעלמך בה יאכי אנני וקעת פי צ̇מאן

  7. מנית בדר מע אבו סעד ואנא מא באקדר

  8. אברח ואלא עלא אני אטלע ואנא אסאלך

  9. אן תתפצ̇ל תק[[א]]בל יד מעלמך עני ותערפה
