Description

Bottom of a legal document in Arabic script involving Jewish silk traders (al-qazzāzīn al-isrāʾīliyyīn). Two signatures are preserved. Underneath, the tops of the letters are visible from a few words written in very large Arabic script. Excerpts: او على احد منهم او على احد . . . ـهم . . . كله باطلة . . . . كان . . . صحة . . . على هذا له ولولده ولاخيه المسمين معه في هذا الكتاب جميع . . . قرر عليهم جميع ما فيه . . . .في صحة منهم وجواز امر . . . The first witness is [...] b. Ḥasan al-Summāqī and his signature appears to be datd 423 AH. The second is ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. [...] b. Masʿūd. Reused for Hebrew liturgical text or piyyuṭ on recto.
