Description
Fragment from a private letter. On recto there is the end of a legal query concerning an alley and a qāʿa and a majlis. This is followed by greetings for "our master R. Moshe" titled both Sayyid(?) al-Zamān and Ṣadr al-Zamān (ותוצל סלאמי למולאנא וסידנא ס[י]ד אלזמאן ר משה צדר אלזמאן תאג אל . . .). Verso contains a request for help for a certain man who is ill and is apparently prescribed to drink "a pound of milk every day" (בשרב רטל לבן כל יום), but it is scarce in Fustat and he has been unable to find enough, so he hopes to find it "with you." This man is probably the sender himself as becomes clear 4 lines from the bottom (עדר אלכאדם מן אגל מרצה...). He is unsure if he will survive (הל הו יעיש) but if he does survive (ואן כאן יעיש) says something involving fine maqṭaʿ cloths (ועמל מקאטע רפאע). There are also greetings to the addressee and his son.
