Description

Legal document in Arabic script. Acknowledgment (iqrār). The muqirr is Bū Muḥammad b. ʿAshīr (or Ghushayr?) al-Miṣrī al-Mutamaʿʿish(?), "one of the men/soldiers of the triumphant and victorious Egyptian fleets" (aḥad rijāl al-asāṭīl al-muẓaffara al-manṣūra), who declares that when he met with Rāfiʿ b. ʿAbd al-Karīm and Māḍī b. [...], who are also associated with the navy in Alexandria, someone was supposed to be sent somewhere to collect something as had been their custom (this line is quite faded), and the muqirr tells the other two people that he has already collected this (a sum of money?) it in Fustat for the year 532 AH = 1137/38 CE. The next part consists of blessings for the caliph al-Ḥāfiẓ and his vizier. The bottom is missing. Reused on verso for a Hebrew poem (rahat).
